'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game ended with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative strike from distance, and his teammate immediately hammered in the deflection before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with supporters congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory capped an unbelievable comeback given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a next round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about way out going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after they changed shape. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the City players who complimented the way Orient attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It feels like they always find their target and they know how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be focused every second of the game. It requires a strong mentality and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has quickly achieved similar status in south Wales. At the London club he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that development for both domestically and internationally, excelling for his national side, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including home and away games against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his dad, Stuart, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was shut owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he comments, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "It was fairly simple, because I reached the point where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the next one to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
